HWRSD Learns: Opening Days 2026

As I look back to the many educational experiences I've had, I'm grateful for a non-traditional pathway that led me to where I am today.  My first teaching job was in Northern California as a 5th grade teacher working at the only Title 1 school in a high-performing, high-income school district.  After that position, my husband and I were called to be missionaries in Madrid, Spain where we worked with college students and young married couples in addition to ESL ministry.While we moved to the North Shore for my husband to pursue a seminary degree, I was fortunate to work at Gordon for almost a decade.  I earned my master's degree in reading and additional licensure in ESL while I worked as a program administrator in the Graduate Education department.  Eventually, I added on an adjunct role and supported area schools as an independent educational consultant.  After Gordon College, I strongly desired to go back to public education and became a literacy coach and district coordinator for Salem Public Schools across K-8th grade.  In addition to my full-time job, I joined the HILL as a module facilitator for their science of reading courses which supported several Massachusetts districts in supporting a shift from balanced literacy to the science of reading.I am now in my home district of Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District as a district elementary literacy specialist where I support ELA curriculum in tier I as well as oversee all tier II elementary reading interventions in the district.I have been married for almost 21 years and have three awesome daughters, Ellia (16), Samantha (15) and Joy (7).  Currently, I am a part of my church's board of elders and support our growing children's ministry.  I very much enjoy being out in nature, engaging in all different types of exercise, traveling, reading, celebrating my mild curiosities (ask me about more about this!) and embarrassing my two teenage daughters whenever I can;)
