Restorative Practices
Tuesday September 1, 2026 12:30pm - 1:15pm EDT
This presentation will focus on three key ideas: connection, reflection, and repair. Restorative practices are not just a buzz word or scripted set of strategies, they represent a shift in how we think about relationships, behavior, and community in schools. Rather than focusing primarily on rule-breaking and consequences, restorative approaches center on relationships: how we build them, how we maintain them, and how we repair them when harm occurs.

Harnessing Curriculum-Based Assessments at the Elementary Level to Create Coherence
Tuesday September 1, 2026 12:30pm - 1:15pm EDT
We know that triangulating screening data along with classroom performance is key. Last year, after data meetings, the elementary curriculum team began to design district-wide assessment trackers to share data for planning and analysis. Come view the trackers and share your feedback, maybe even start to build the next set of units if we have time! Sharing information will help us work efficiently and effectively, and having an easy tool to do this with needs teacher input!

Proactive Strategies & Collaboration Solutions: Elementary
Tuesday September 1, 2026 12:30pm - 1:15pm EDT
This presentation will focus on the underlying assumptions about behavior and look at how we can proactively design environments, build skills, and use collaborative approaches to support students more effectively. The goal is not just to manage behavior, but to prevent challenges when possible by helping students build the skills they need to succeed. This includes strengthening skills such as communication, emotional regulation, problem solving, flexibility, and self-advocacy. It also means responding to behavior in ways that teach and reinforce these skills over time, and supporting students in developing greater independence, confidence, and long-term success.

Case Study: De-escalation and Pro-active Behavioral Strategies
Tuesday September 1, 2026 1:30pm - 2:15pm EDT
De-Escalation is a process that involves the use a variety of strategies and interventions to help someone go from crisis to calm. This training will focus on practical, research-based strategies that can help lessen the likelihood of further escalation of a dysregulated student. Despite the development of supportive, safe environments students may, at times become agitated and their behavior may rise to unsafe levels. With some advanced planning and training, educators can utilize proactive interventions and reduce reliance of reactive strategies (restraint, seclusion, suspension, etc.). The strategies discussed also support relationship building with students which is a pillar of improved student behavior. The strategies discussed can be used with students of all ages and in both regular and special education settings. PreK-12.

Come ready to share challenges you have had (or anticipated challenges you are concerned about going into the new school year) with behavior to discuss with the focus of learning specific pro-active strategies and interventions.
